Fix Instagram Notification Bug On iPhone

In this article, we address the frequent problem that has suddenly emerged out of nowhere with iPhone users regarding Instagram. The problem that most iPhone users are facing is that they are not receiving Instagram notifications on their phone. That means whenever someone comments on your post or someone sends you a direct message you are not receiving the notifications. Okay, let’s address this problem.

First, The Basics…

So, the first thing that you have to do is to start with the basics. First of all, restart your iPhone. Now, let us mention this beforehand: how you restart your phone depends on the model of the iPhone you are using. Anyway, restart your iPhone and check if you are able to receive notifications from Instagram or not. If you are still not getting any notifications, follow the next basic step.

Next thing you have to make sure is check whether the ‘do not disturb mode’ is enabled on your iPhone. To do that, just go ahead and open “settings”. Then go to “do not disturb” and make sure that this “do not disturb mode” is disabled. If the do not disturb mode is enabled in your iPhone then immediately turn it off. With it turned on, even though you may receive notifications they will be silenced and you won’t be able to hear the notification. So, make sure that it is disabled.

Check Notifications – Instagram

Another thing that you should be doing is checking the status of notifications for Instagram. You just need to tap on ‘settings’. Then tap on “notifications”. Scroll down the drop-down menu and look for Instagram. If you cannot find the Instagram application on the menu then that means that you have to uninstall the application and download it again. The reason you need to do this is because whenever you install Instagram on your phone, it will ask you if you want to receive notifications. If you opt for no then you will not be able to receive notifications from Instagram.

So, if you do not find the application on the menu then you have to uninstall the Instagram application and then reinstall it again. Once you have reinstalled the application, open it and enter your credentials. As soon as you log in, you will get a message from Instagram that Instagram would like you to send you notifications. You just need to allow that. Once you do that, you will start receiving the notifications

Double-Check

There is another case possible. Let’s suppose if you had enabled notifications for Instagram but, later on disabled them. Then in that case, again, you have to re-enable notifications for Instagram application. So for that one, you will have to go to “settings”. Then tap on “notifications”. Scroll down and you will be able to see the Instagram application. Now, you just need to enable the notifications in order to continue receiving notifications from the app.

Instagram Background App Refresh

If none of the above cases match your scenario then one thing that you can do is check if you have disabled background app refresh for Instagram application. For that, you will need to go to “settings”. Tap on “general”. Then tap on the background app refresh option and see if the app is excluded from the list.

If you disable background app refresh for the app then there is a problem. What happens is whenever there is a new notification for your Instagram application, it won’t be notified because the iPhone tries to save the data and power because of which the app will not be able to function properly. So, make sure that the background app refresh for Instagram is enabled.

Bonus tip: At times when you are running low on your battery and you are trying to make your phone last for as long as you can, you often turn the ‘low-power mode’ on. This is exactly what you need to check. Swipe the screen from the top to open the “control center” and make sure that the low-power mode is not enabled. If you are trying to conserve your battery by enabling the low-power mode then the app might not work properly. So, disable the low-power mode.

Then the last thing that you can do is check if your Instagram has been updated. There might be a bug that is causing this issue. So you have to make sure that you have the latest version of the app installed on your iPhone.

And that wraps up today’s article. Try applying these steps and hopefully, your issue will be resolved. Stay tuned for further updates.
